Forum Thread: How to Access Your Music Without Itunes!!

This article will show you how to access the music on your ipod nano/classic/shuffle without iTunes. Don't forget to subscribe!!

Step 1: Method #1: Sharepod

  1. Download Sharepod
  1. Open Sharepod
  1. Connect you iPod to the computer and wait for it to load
  1. Ex out of Itunes or minimize it if it opens
  1. Once your iPod loads you will see a list of all the songs on it
  • If you right click on a song a menu will open

-- Preview

-- Auto-transfer everything to iTunes

-- Transfer current playlist to iTunes

-- Transfer selected tracks to iTunes

-- Transfer everything to a folder

-- Transfer current playlist to a folder

-- Transfer selected to a folder

  1. Transfer (Bottom Right Corner)
  • This will open a menu

-- Auto-transfer everything to iTunes

-- Transfer current playlist to iTunes

-- Transfer selected tracks to iTunes

-- Transfer everything to a folder

-- Transfer current playlist to a folder

-- Transfer selected to a folder

Step 2: Method #2 : On the Computer

  1. Open File Explorer
  • Double click on the file explorer icon and wait for it to load
  1. Double click on your iPod
  • You should now see 6 folders

-- Recordings

-- Photos

-- Notes

-- DCIM

-- Contacts

-- Calendars

  1. Minimize File Explorer
  1. Open Control Panel
  1. Type folder options in the search bar
  1. Press enter

You should now see :

  • Work Folders
  • Folder Options
  • Sync Center
  • Troubleshooting
  • File History
  • Network and Sharing Center
  • HomeGroup
  1. Select Show hidden files and folders
  • listed under folder options
  1. Select Show Hidden files, folders, and drives
  1. Click on Apply
  1. Click on Ok
  1. Ex out of Control Panel
  1. Open File Explorer
  • You should now see another folder called iPodControl

Step 3: Method #2 : On the Computer : Part 2

  1. Double click on the iPodControl folder to open it

You should now see :

  • Artwork
  • Device
  • gamedataRW
  • GamesRO
  • GamestatsWO
  • iTunes
  • Music
  • Speakable
  • Tones
  1. Double Click on the Music folder to open it
  • You should now see a bunch of folders
  • each folder should contian songs, audiobooks and voice recordings from your iPod
  • the songs will not be labeled by name, instead they will be called random letters
  1. Select a song
  1. Right click and select Play
  • This will play the song in Windows Media player or whatever program you have set as your default audio player
  • In Windows Media Player, you should see the name of the song
